His greeting to you each morning and his advice not to work too hard are perfectly acceptable if neither lyrical nor romantic... He obviously is a decent man who cares about you, although his first love always will be his work.

Ahaha... I also tried marrying that guy just out of my curiosity... And if I was a kitten, I would be dead. That guy only wants to marry you for the food, nothing else. Ridiculus... xD
There are quite a few men who marry women for the same reason, simply to obtain a convenient housekeeper even in the 21st century when you would think they'd know better!
