Snow Ruins Video Walkthrough

Here is a quick video Walkthrough of the Snow Ruins, showing the paths both to the Shortcut Stairway and the Isolated Stairway on each floor. Freyr's actions in moving as quickly as possible through each chamber, irrespective of damage to himself or his Silver Wolf are not recommended. In particular, it is better to destroy the arched wires connected to each explosive device, whether Eye Generator or Cannon, rather than attacking the device directly. This is NOT a combat tutorial. It is intended simply to show the paths that you need to take to reach each set of stairs.

This video was requested by Sue. I hope it is useful!

indeed this walkthrough will prove to be helpful to a lot of players alike. I follow yr video closely but i'm having problem with ice falling and being thrown at me causing rapid death at level b2. How to avoid or rather which is the best way to handle such situation. Which is the best weapon n armour should i equip myself at snow ruins. Thanks

It sounds as though you are having trouble with the Glaces. They are Ice Elemental Spirits. Accessories that offer protection against Water would be helpful. For example, you could equip the Water Cape with Water Resistance +30. Don't forget that food can offer temporary defence as well. Most Sashimi gives Water Resistance +10 as a Special Effect. Ice Cream is even better with Water Resistance +20.

As far as Attack is concerned, for an elemental Attack, use the Element's opposite. For Water/Ice Elementals like Glaces, use Fire weapons. Again, food can deliver temporary special effects in terms of Fire Attack.

I'm glad it is helpful, Sue. I made it for you, although I think it will help a lot of players.

E. Drink X. can be found often in some of the Twin Tower chambers on Whale Island. They can be found sometimes in urns in the Snow Ruins... have to try to pinpoint those locations. I have made a video walkthrough for the Lava Ruins now as there have been similar requests for that. at the same time, I investigated the claims of players who declared that they could find Energy Drink X in the Lava Ruins on the 4th and 5th floors. I never found ANY Energy Drinks more potent than Energy Drink in the Lava Ruins in Treasure Chests, Crates or White Urns. I have found them, however, in the Snow Ruins. The easiest and most probable location, however, remains the twin towers on the upper levels of Whale Island. Take Rune Stones to unlock the various doors and you should find at least 4-8 Energy Drink X if you hit all the Towers, not to mention Little Crystals of various levels.

And that is the 3rd Dungeon? Also the one where Iris Noir is revealed?

Freyashawk said...

The Snow Ruins could be counted as the third dungeon. The dungeons are:
Whale Island
Green Ruins
Lava Ruins
Snow Ruins

As you can unlock Whale Island immediately (on the 1st day) but doing so does not unlock any of the other dungeons, it is difficult to know where to place it.

In terms of the dungeons that actually are on the ground in Trampoli, the Snow Ruins would be the third.

Yes, it is the dungeon where you will confront Iris Noire and the Walkthrough shows the chamber where she and Gelwein are hidden.

Thank you very much! And a one more thing: Is Whale Island the LAST dungeon you need to complete, or the first?

I deal with this question at some length in my 1st Year Walkthrough, where I recommend that you unlock Whale Island on the very first day (2 Spring) and begin to explore the Cave and plant crops there. When you have the chance to unnlock the Green Ruins (after Mist's 'vision'), do that and begin to explore Green Ruins instead... The Whale Island Cave has the least powerful monsters and crops from all seasons can be grown there... furthermore, you can obtain the Hammer and meet Melody instantly by going into the Depths. The Whale's Fin has your first Transport Monster in the form of the Silver Wolf but you need to increase your levels before you can tame one... that is where the Green Ruins offers you a chance to do that, as well as Cluckys and Hornets to tame for Ranch Products. Both Whale's Fin and Green Ruins have Woolys and Buffamoo, so you can take your pick where to tame THOSE... by the middle of Spring, when the Materia Shop opens, you can start growing Moondrop Flowers on the Fin in order to meet Iris. So my answer is: explore parts of each dungeon in the first Spring. As far as the upper areas of whale Island are cncerned, however, you can't unlock the Gate on the Fin until later, so at that point, complete the Green Ruins, unlock Lava Ruins and begin to explore THAT Dungeon. You need to be able to make a Silver Hammer so that requires exploration of the Lava Ruins and you only can unlock that dungeon by beating the Giant Clucky in the Green Ruins.

With your helpful guidance video,i've managed to battle snow ruins boss and beat him at it too..but he is my least favourite with his blowing of cold air, push me back quite a bit.Anyways all thanks to you i'm able to continue with the adventure of RFF. Btw do u know how to level up my water cape(L1) to a higher level because one of rhe ingredients is charm blue flower but i only grown level(1)charm blue flower but rest of ingredients are 3 level above. So if i want to have a level 7 water cape do i need to grow the flower again and used greenifier make a level 7 flower...i am quite confused on how to level up most accessories.thanks

Sue, I created a new post for you that gives the general rules of creating high level items in Rune Factory Frontier.

Any project will result at best in an item that is only one level higher than the level of the LOWEST level of ingredient, so if you use your Level 1 Charm Blue, you will create only another Level 1 Water Cape or, if you perform the task 'with expertise', Level 2 Water Cape at best.

You need to plant Charm Blue and use Greenifier ONCE only on one square. You then can use Formula C on the same square every day afterwards to speed the growth. you therefore will be able to harvest one Level 2 Charm Blue before the other flowers are mature. Put that flower in the Seed Maker and then plant it again, using Greenifier on one square... repeat this process until you have a Level 6 or Level 7 Charm Blue to use in the Recipe for the Water Cape. Incidentally, if your Skill Levels are at maximum, you can go with Level 6 Charm Blue and, with expertise, create a level 7 Water Cape but it is better to wait until you have Level 7 Charm Blue and then, created a LEvel 8 Water Cape by making it 'with expertise'.

Remember that Greenifier works only once with any Crops and all farm aids effect only the single square on which they are dumped...

I didn't read your post carefully enough. If the other ingredients are only at Level 3, that will limit the Level of Water Cape as well! You need ALL ingredients to be at Level 6 or higher to even have a chance of creating a Level 7 Water Cape.

One last thing, Freya...... You know where, in Green Ruins, there is a bunch of monsters, a door behind the generator, and s set of rocks on the third or fourth floor? Now, do I need a Silver Hammer to break that? Because I can't get any further from there. The monsters are a Hornet, I THINK a (Little?) Mage, and a Buffamoo.

Also, what level do you need to be to capture the Silver Wolf? I'm currently a Level Twelve. Is that enough?

Unknown said...

thanks again for the new written post, now i've more understanding on creating high levels items but i think i'll go with your advise in creating a black robe. Cheers

Freyashawk said...

Sue, I do recommend the Black Robe. Even a Level 1 or Level 2 Black Robe is more than adequate for any confrontation...

Iris, if you are speaking of the little square stones found in a few areas of the Green Ruins as well as in the Lava Ruins, you cannot break them unless you have a Silver Hammer. That is why players try to get to the Lava Ruins at the earliest opportunity to find a piece of Silver. I made a video about the easiest place to find Silver early in your exploration of the Lava Ruins as well as videos that show those little square rocks... Ironically, you almost ALWAYS can find Silver in a little chamber behind two of those square rocks on the 2nd Floor of the Green Ruins... but you must have a Silver Hammer first.

As far as taming any Monster is concerned, I believe that the rule is that you have to be at least 9 levels higher than the Monster in question... I just tamed a new Silver Wolf to confirm his level and it is Lv. 18 at the moment when he was tamed. That would mean that your Level would have to be 27 minimum to be able to tame him... You always can try, though. If your level is not high enough, you will 'Miss' with the Pet Glove each time you use it on the Monster.
