Fashion Statements in Animal Parade

The amount of text and variations in dialogue that exist in Animal Parade astound me. Characters have a wealth of ordinary dialogue that varies with the weather, the season, Heart Level, upcoming Festivals and even the outfit that you are wearing!

I originally included this topic at the end of my Kappa video but then decided it deserved a video of its own. I hope to make one shortly.

In MFoMT, you could increase the AP of local Bachelors by changing your outfit. In Animal Parade, specific Bachelors and Eligible Girls respond to specific items of Headgear or clothing accessories.

I have collected a few screenshots now after my initial discovery that wearing the Red Straw Hat provoked a special remark from Toby.

He said (blushing): What a nice straw hat. It suits you. We’re dressed alike... It’s a little embarrassing.

After Toby mentioned the Straw Hat, I returned to Shelly's shop to see what Hats might appeal to another Bachelor. I instantly recognised that the Fire Bandana would be something Luke would appreciate. Much to my delight, this proved correct when I next spoke to him wearing the bandana.

Luke: Oh, that looks great! I have the same bandana in a different colour! It’s nice, we can match a little.

A setback occurred when I bought the Cowboy Hat for Calvin but he refused to acknowledge it. I could have sworn that the Hat resembled Calvin's own... Nor did Owen respond to the White Scarf even though he sports a jaunty white scarf himself.

As it transpired, I had chosen the wrong Cowboy Hat. There are two very similar Cowboy Hats. One is Tan and one is Brown. The Brown Cowboy Hat only is offered at Level 3, but this is the Hat that excites Calvin's admiration.

With the Brown Cowboy Hat on my head, Calvin declared: Hey, you look sharp today! That ten gallon hat suits you nicely. You look radiant!

My next success occurred when I sported the Round Silver Glasses for Jin. He was quick to praise my new fashion sense!

Jin: Oh my, those wide-rimmed glasses really change your look. They suit you well.

Seaweed in Island of Happiness

Sometimes I despair of ever being able to create a truly comprehensive guide that will not require frequent updates. I included Seaweed in the Items List but forgot to create a little section for it with information on how and where it is obtained in Island of Happiness. When a gamer asked about Seaweed in an email, I was reminded of the need to devote a little section to it. It now has been added to the General Guide, but it may be worth a brief mention here as well.

Seaweed is a new item in DS Harvest Moon games, although you will find it in the upcoming Wii Tree of Tranquility as well. As an item that is almost a staple in Japanese cuisine, it certainly deserves to be included in Harvest Moon, and in fact, it is one of the most useful items early in Island of Happiness.

Go to the Beach and investigate the large boulder there. In Spring, you will be allowed to collect one portion of Seaweed from the boulder daily. If you attempt to collect another, or attempt to gather it in any other season, you will be unable to do so.

Seaweed as a raw ingredient is worth: +4 SR +2 FL or 4 Stamina Recovery and 2 Fullness. Any raw ingredient is worth far less than the same ingredient when cooked. If you take your Seaweed to Luke at the Diner, he will make Seaweed Paste with it. That is worth: +15 SR +8 FL or 15 Stamina Recovery and 8 Fullness.

You must have an expanded Diner and Cafe in order to be able to obtain Recipes from the owners. Until the restaurants are expanded, you will not be able to obtain any Recipes from Luke or Madelynn.

If you are very diligent in making progress in the game, you can have an expanded Diner and Cafe before the end of the first Spring and be able to obtain the Recipe for Seaweed Paste. If not, you will be forced to rely on Raw Seaweed until later in the game.

For all Harvest Moon fans and players

As Freyashawk, I have written about 150 guides for games, most of which have been guides for Harvest Moon games. These are published on IGN. IGN has given me the title of 'Mistress of Harvest Moon' and I strive daily to earn the right to maintain that title. Although there is a link page on IGN that lists all the guides published there, they are not organised by game, but rather given in alphabetical order. I therefore created this page in order to provide links to the guides I have created for each Harvest Moon game. If you access the General Guide for any game, links should be included to all other guides for that game in a section at the end. I will try to add links to ALL guides as time permits, but until I do, you always can refer to my user page at IGN for the complete list.

How to Use my Guides

I write three different basic types of game guides. I usually write a General Guide for every game, which is fairly comprehensive and deals with all aspects of the game. It may or may not be in the form of a Walkthrough, dealing with game aspects as they occur. My Innocent Life General Guide is an example of a General Guide that is organised as a Walkthrough.

After writing a General Comprehensive Guide, I often write a Calendar Guide giving birthday and festival dates, with additional information that may be helpful, such as favourite gifts for each individual. For all Harvest Moon games, I usually write a number of 'mini-guides', such as Events Guides for each year of gameplay, or Recipe Guides that give all recipes one can make. Fishing, Mining, Shipping or Item Value Guides are other mini-guides that can be very useful when playing Harvest Moon. Character Guides give detailed information about every character in any specific game. My Courtship and Marriage Guide is devoted to all aspects of Courtship and Marriage, including schedules of Heart Events, Rival Heart Events and the likes and dislikes of every Eligible Girl and/or Bachelor.

Although this site is devoted to Harvest Moon, I have included links to game guides for other games. I created a separate link section for Animal Crossing Wild World as well, because I wrote more than one guide for that game.

N.B. All my game guides are published by IGN. This webpage has been created simply to allow players to find links to all my guides more easily.

It is really sad to discover that there are individuals who are willing to steal my guides and to attempt to publish them under their names. Fortunately, there are many players who recognise my guides when they see them anywhere on the internet and who are willing to alert me when some one tries to steal my material. I want to thank all those players for their help in these cases.

Some one stole one of my guides and tried to publish it on Gamefaqs under his/her name. The guide has been removed and the poster has been banned. I now have a contact in the Legal Department at CNet. I spend many months sometimes writing a guide. They are available for the private use of any individual without cost, but they are not available for theft!

Friends of Mineral Town and More Friends of Mineral Town

You will notice that I wrote far more guides for More Friends of Mineral Town than I did for the original 'Friends of Mineral Town'. At some point, I would like to publish more specific Events Guides for Friends of Mineral Town, but players should be aware of the fact that ALL Calendar Events Guides for MFoMT can be used when playing the original FoMT. The Events are the same in most cases in both games. If, therefore, you are playing FoMT and you wish to know the events that can be experienced in the third year of gameplay, refer to the 'Third Year Calendar Events Guide' for 'More Friends of Mineral Town'.
